  14.  Technical consultant - short-term (3-6 months) project

  16. We are a company, located in northwest NJ, looking for a technical
  17. consultant for a 3-6 months project.
  18.  
  19. Scope:
  20. We have several computer systems that need to be streamlined and
  21. transferred to more up-to-date hardware platforms.  Updating these
  22. systems requires highly skilled technical personnel for 3-6 months
  23. period.
  24.  
  25. Responsibilities:
  26. 1.) Review current systems and acquire specifications for revised
  27. systems.  This will require working with several dept people that are
  28. knowledgeable about portions of the system and also working with the
  29. vendor of satellite images on various communication problems.
  30.  
  31. 2.) Make recommendations on what to streamline and what type of platform
  32. and other hardware will be required.
  33.  
  34. 3.)  Re-programming portions of the system in C, Fortran or other
  35. languages.
  36.  
  37. 4.)  Testing and verifying systems to insure stability and accuracy.
  38.  
  39. 5.)  Respond to other ad-hoc request for technical assistance.
  40.  
  41. Skills:
  42. Communications: modems, DecNet Pathworks, VAX communications protocols
  43. Hardware:       IBM PCs, Dec and/or Sun Workstations
  44. Systems:        DOS, VMS and UNIX
  45. Languages:      C, Fortran
  46. Packages:  Lotus and communication packages knowledge would be useful.
  47. Database:  Pardox or other database would be useful.
