  17. This position is chartered with
  18.  
  19. o  Writing, modifying, and maintaining a suite of information retrieval
  20.    application systems that provide world class electronic customer
  21.    support and connectivity with Synopsys
  22.  
  23. o  Systems administration tasks associated with the hardware and
  24.    telecommunications of the information retrieval project
  25.  
  26. o  Developing and maintaining an information classification system 
  27.    for use in the project
  28.  
  29. Success in the job during the first year will be measured in terms of 
  30.  
  31. o Quality of C code in the project
  32. o Degree of dedication and energy invested in the project
  33. o Dedication to the improvement of the system and to customer support
  34. o A willingness to tackle tougher opportunities as the year progresses

  44. .  Software development experience (C, UNIX, debugging)
  45. .  Some exposure to full text retrieval and distributed bulletin board
  46.    systems (WAIS, c-news, electronic mail subscription services)
