  18. The Department of Mathematics seeks applications for a tenure-track
  19. position as Assistant Professor specializing in Computer Science.
  20. Initial appointment is for 4 years, 9 months per year, beginning
  21. August 1, 1993.  The position requires the successful applicant to
  22. have completed a Ph.D. in Computer Science by the appointment date
  23. and to have a commitment to high quality research and teaching.

  25. The Department of Mathematics provides a congenial environment for
  26. cooperation between mathematicians, statisticians and computer
  27. scientists.  Current computer science members in the department
  28. have active research projects in image processing, parallel processing,
  29. and formal language theory.  The department currently offers a B.S.
  30. in computer science and is planning a M.S. degree to start in 1994.

  32. UNCG takes pride in its strong liberal arts tradition.  It has
  33. approximately 12,000 students of whom 75% are undergraduates.  The
  34. University is situated in a historic city of 190,000 and is within
  35. easy driving distance of North Carolina's beautiful beaches and mountains.
