- My 14 year old son is in the hospital with an NG tube and IV's and the
- works. The diagnosis is Pancreatitis. His amylaze (?) level was
- 1100 and I was told the normal is between 200 to 300. The nurses and
- doctor's seem to be stumped at why this happend. He is very healthy
- otherwise. They said it is very uncommon in children. (No he doesn't
- drink, although you'd be surprised how many times I was asked that. And
- he doesn't have cystic fibrosis.) The medication they're giving him
- is working well. The very next morning after he was admitted his
- amylaze (?) level has come down to 500. His tube is very far from
- being clear though. Does anyone have any suggestions how a 14 year
- old could possibly get pancreatitis? Also I would appreciate any
- information on Pancreatitis.

- Thanks...
