  32. homeopathy: fraud.

  36. No, feel free to do so.  I am not posting here to 
  37. blindly promote allopathic dogma.  I believe there
  38. may well be some good in homeopathy, but I am
  39. concerned that it is difficult to tell the good from
  40. the fraud.  In addition, if I ask you for data to 
  41. support homeopathy then I must be willing to provide
  42. the same for allopathic medicine.  So fire away
  43. and expect to be fired upon in turn (in good
  44. nature, of course).

  49. Currently accepted practice is to use inhaled steroids as a
  50. first line and to use Ventolin only as needed on
  51. top of that.  And 6 to 10 times per day for Ventolin
  52. is quite a bit.... you may well become refractory to 
  53. its effects.  But of course, speak with your own doctor
  54. first.

  60. Cromalyn generally is recommended as a preventive agent
  61. and not as a first line for acute asthmatic attacks.  More
  62. importantly, why are you avoiding steroid inhalers?  if it is 
  63. because of fears of steroid side effects, the side effects
  64. are actually quite minimal with this form of administration...
  65. and certainly less than the side effects of the oral or IV
  66. steroids you will need if your disease gets worse.  (Again,
  67. discuss this first with your own doctor.)

  73. As I mentioned above, I am not necessarily opposed to
  74. homeopathy.  I am an open-minded skeptic.  I am 
  75. also opposed to health fraud in all forms, whether
  76. by M.D., D.O., D.C., homeopath, etc.

  78. I am not a primary care physician managing asthma so 
  79. I probably could not directly offer you any medical
  80. care which would change your medical situation.  However,
  81. I would recommend that you visit an allergist or 
  82. pulmonologist familiar with current treatment strategies
  83. for asthma.  From your brief electronic medical history
  84. above, it appears that either through your choice or
  85. through your physician's choice you may not be following
  86. optimal allopathic treatment for your asthma.  If you
  87. wish to use asthma medication which is non-standard
  88. or suboptimal, that is your right, but it is unfair
  89. for you to then turn to homeopathy and claim alternative
  90. medicine is more effective than traditional medicine.
  91. I suspect an up-to-date allopathic M.D. could help 
  92. you to control you asthma quite well.
