  10. The Christmas Day fire in the business district of Matewan, W.VA gutted
  11. four buildings and left eight families homeless.  The fire and
  12. explosion
  13. severely damaged about one quarter of the business district and
  14. destroyed
  15. the homes of families living over storefronts.

  17. Then Saturday, four fires, apparently the work of an arsonist, erupted
  18. in the already-damaged area.  State Fire Marshall Paul Ritchie
  19. remarked,
  20. "It appears all four were started by the same individual within minutes
  21. of each other."  One was set at this historic mining town's fire
  22. station,
  23. and other were at a bank, a tavern, and a parked truck.

  25. Police Sunday arrested a long-haul truck driver as a suspect in the
