- From "Get the Facts on Anyone", by Dennis King:
-
- "Under Social Security regulations any SSN holder may change his or her
- SSN by applying to the Social Security Administration and showing good
- reason. Some people do it because of suspicion that their SSN and name
- are being used by someone else for fraudulent purposes....(etc.)"
-
- The only thing you have to worry about is keeping all activity with your
- new number TOTALLY separate from your old number. If you get a new SSN
- and then go out and apply for a new credit card at your same old address,
- not only will you probably not get the card (assuming you've got a crappy
- credit rating), but your NEW SSN will end up in TRW's computers right next
- to your old one.
