  18. The Yugoslav situation is truly barbaric.  In the last week of November 
  19. a local RCMP (Bruce Lloy) officer returned from a voluntary tour of duty in 
  20. Yugoslavia.  He came to my high school and gave a talk about the "law enforce-
  21. ment".

  23. The law enforcement officers are military personnal in different uniforms. They
  24. participate in the etnic cleansing and have full power.  Unlike police officers
  25. around the world, the Serb, Croatian, and Bosnian-Herzegovian officers have
  26. NO police training, and many of them have only been on the force for four years.
  27. Lloy was stationed in a town where he was observing the police for human rights
  28. violations.  A muslim woman had complained to the local police after her house
  29. had been burnt to the ground by ethnic cleansers.  When the police refused to
  30. do anything she said she would go to the UN international police force.  A gun
  31. was put to her head and the military police said that "No, you won't".  Now
  32. where are you when you can't even trust the local police.

  34. You also have to remember that the ethnic groups used to get along with each
  35. other quite well.  Inter marrages were common and not thought of.  Now with
  36. the ethnic cleansing people have to choose between their spouse and children
  37. and their families.  No one can sit on a fence, or your neighbours will choose
  38. for you.

  40. Tito kept them in line, that's something for dictatorships.
