If your friend has access to a Fidonet BBS she might look into the
backbone echomail conference, LATINO. The LATINO conference is conducted primarily in Spanish, though there is also an occasional message in Portuguese or Italian. LATINO has participants from many countries in Latin America and Europe as well as Puerto Rico and the U.S. While people who may have only a beginner's grasp of the language are welcome, most of the LATINO participants are fluent,and those trying to learn Spanish thus have the opportunity for contact with grammatically correct conversational
models. One of our local net participants, Richard Fourzan, is a bi-lingual teacher who has participated for some time in LATINO; he could probably be helpful in regard to information about the echo. Richard is also our local Net Echomail Coordinator; he can be reached at 1:305/116.
