- Hello Chris, you said in part......................
-
- CR> I have a question for you: If you had $7,000.00 with which to purchase
- CR> computer hardware and peripherals, what would you get? Imagine you alread
- CR> have one modem-equipped IBM AT 386 with a dot matrix printer in your
- CR> classroom. Remember: You can purchase whatever you want, as long as it i
- CR> HARDWARE.
-
- You did not say how much RAM you had or the speed of your modem. If
- you do not have between 4 and 8 meg of Ram, I would suggest
- additional RAM for the 386. If you do not have a high speed modem I
- would get one that has FAX capabilities. Also, a Lazer printer
- with additional RAM up to at least 1 meg. It would also be nice to
- have a page sized scanner and at least 2 more serial ports on the
- 386. Make sure you have a 14450 chip for the hi speed modem
- connections. It's either on the Mother board or the modem board.
- You said notheing about a backup sustem. If none, then invest in a
- Tape backup and use it!
-
- With what is left, you could buy a Clone as a duplicate sustem if
- you have the need for it. Also, you can expect that your color
- monitor will need replaced in 24 months or so.
-
- Gee, I wish I had your problems<g>.
-
- Peace......................................Ed
