  19. It appears that my version of nntpd spawned a bug in their inn
  20. news server in regards to sending the same article over and over.

  22. uunet noticed this, and corrected this early Sunday morning,
  23. but then they went down around 8 for maintenance.  News started
  24. flowing again from and to uunet via nntp early Monday morning.

  26. I know they go down every Sunday (I was using them as my primary 
  27. namesever, now I use another site) which is a pain (I'm not quite
  28. sure why a news machine would need to go down every Sunday -- we
  29. don't backup news -- that's what nntp is for (grin)).

  31. At least with multiple nntp feeds, we still get a good percentage
  32. of the traffic (nntp operates in IHAVE/SENDME mode where as sites
  33. compare headers prior to sending articles (in ASCII) to avoid 
  34. duplicates)..
