  12. Found an obscure but annoying problem the other day...

  14. If I run my application on an HP9000 with X11R4 and Motif1.1, and display
  15. it on a SPARC 1+ with Openwin 3.0, it takes about *10 minutes* to start
  16. up (on other machines, it takes a few seconds). The holdup appears to be
  17. in a routine called XRefreshKeyboardMapping(). "hpterm" does the same
  18. thing, but other Motif programs do not. Running Motif programs on an SGI
  19. Indigo and displaying them on the SPARC works like a champ. Running any
  20. application anywhere and displaying it on SPARC using the X11R5 server
  21. works fine, so it appears to be an incompatibility between xnews and HP
  22. Motif 1.1.
