- I recently had the opportunity to configure a 486 system which my
- company (ICL) sells with SVR4 installed. While configuring the
- software, the installation procedure asked if I wanted to include
- a DOS partition on the hard disk. I accepted and configured
- a Unix partition and a DOS partition. The system wouldn't
- allow me to configure the main DOS partition anywhere but from
- the first sector on the disk.
-
- After installing Unix, the system always booted Unix from the
- hard disk. The only way I could boot DOS was to place a DOS boot
- diskette in the floppy drive. Does anyone know a method of
- configuring such a system to allow the option of booting either
- Unix or DOS from the same hard disk? I'm sure an appropriate
- BIOS would work, but can I buy such a PROM commercially?
