  27.    Why is it that DEC (at least locally) refuses to give a release date
  28.    for OSF on Alpha then? [.]  From what I understand, OSF will be available
  29.    93Q3, but what about the old Ultrix vendors who are hosed?

  31. Just to inject some real data into the discussion... Venue's Lisp product,
  32. Medley, is already ported to OSF/1 on the MIPS-based DEC machines and
  33. on the Alpha's (the port was first done to the MIPS machines, then to
  34. the Alpha when it became available).  The person who did the port sez
  35. it took him about 3 weeks.

  37. Some trade rag also recently reported that IBM's AIX for the 3090's is
  38. OSF/1-based. I dunno if that's all the way down to the kernel or not,
  39. it wasn't reported. Can't remember which rag it was either.
