- If you are just looking for a simple way of taking ascii text and
- generating postscript, there are at least three public domain
- utilities that will do a reasonable job. These are:
-
- * lwf (laser writer filter). Basic, uses courier font, has some
- nice options when used in conjunction with pr for two-up printing.
- Available at ftp.uu.net:/usenet/comp.sources.misc/volume5/lwf/*.
-
- * mp ("postscript pretty printer"). Puts a nice banner on the top
- and bottom of each page. Recent versions have even nicer two-up
- feature. Great for UseNet and Mail printing. Available at
- sun.soe.clarkson.edu:/pub/src/mp/*.
-
- * pstext. Has great font flexibility, built-in support for LW NT,
- NTX, next, HP LJ III/w PS Cart. Available from
- wuarchive.wustl.edu:/usenet/comp.sources.misc/volume26/pstext/*.
-
- The "available from" sites above were obtained with xarchie. They may
- not be the sites with the latest/greatest versions of these utilities.
-
- Hope this info is useful. I know there are more utilities of this
- nature out there but this summary should suffice as an intro for people
- just getting into PS printing.
