  20. The Sparcprinter language is not proprietary- it is non-existant. The
  21. Sparcpritner is  stupid drum with a laser- you have to send it all of
  22. the signals to turn the laser on and off ( ie the only thing it accepts
  23. is a bitmap.) Newsprint converts the input to a bitmap. The openwin is
  24. used to convert postscript to a bitmap. The source code for the printer
  25. driver is included with Newsprint, so presumably you could use something
  26. else to generate the bitmap for you, but you'd need a bit of time.- is
  27. the excess space worth a year of your time? Or has anyone set up
  28. ghostscript say to run the Sparcpritner?
