  13. I have a tape drive from Atherton Technologies connected to a
  14. standalone Sun 3 machine, which has a 500 MB hard disk.  I get the
  15. following message whenever I try extracting (writing) files from (to)
  16. a tape loaded on the tape drive:

  18. tar: read error: I/O error
  19.  
  20. Neither the tape nor the tape drive seem to be defective; in fact,
  21. they exhibit normal behavior when connected to another diskless Sun3
  22. machine which boots off another server.

  24. Has anybody seen this before?
