- Read the zs man page. It tells you how to configure the port to dial
- out without CD asserted using a device with minor number 128 greater
- than the corresponding /dev/tty*

- This, combined with disabling echo and result codes and using the &D3
- mode to reset the modem, will work for outgoing and incoming calls.
- You can then set the modem so CD follows carrier. The built-in locking
- will prevent getty from opening the corresponding /dev/tty* device when
- CD goes high on outgoing data calls.

- You can put an initialization string in applications such as Kermit that
- use result codes in order to reset echo and result codes if needed. The
- /etc/ttytab should not say "local" for the modem port. There should be
- no /etc/ttytab entry for the outgoing line (/dev/cua*).
