- For testing purposes I tried the automounter in a very small net - I
- wanted to know whether it speaks between SunOS 4.1.1 and Solaris 2.0
- Beta. Yup, it does (at least under NIS, I will try NIS+ later :-)
-
- Now I'm wondering: Shall I keep the configuration? What are the pro's of
- automount against the oldstyle /etc/{vfstab,fstab} ruled "normal"
- NFS-Mounts? Are there contras besides the fact of the invisible mount
- points, which are bad for updatedb?
-
- Oh, BTW, one problem still remained with Solaris 2.1: arch delivers
- sun4 and arch -k sun4c, no difference to SunOS 4.*. Thus $ARCH doesn't
- work for binaries which are not compatible - any ideas?
-
- Thank you for telling me your point of view!
