- This isn't exactly an answer, but if you have the image tools
- installed, you should be able to convert GIF files to various
- other formats. On recent versions of the software, the image
- tools are an inst'able package, eoe2.sw.imagetools.

- You can use "fromgif" to translate GIF files to SGI RGB files,
- and "totiff" to translate SGI RGB files to TIFF:

- totiff file.rgb file.tiff

- You can display SGI RGB files with "ipaste." I think that
- "bgpaste," which will let you display an RGB file as a background,
- is also part of the image tools.
