  21. We should probably move this thread into c.s.n.hardware; but before we do, let  
  22. me suggest:

  24.     1) The best (and only) place to get an official optical drive filter
  25.        is from NeXT itself. I generally call:  510-438-4332. The service
  26.        person who answers (or whose voice mail you will get) is quite 
  27.        knowledgable, and will return phone calls.
  28.  
  29.     2) There is plastic mesh filter material made for "Bionaire" air
  30.        cleaners that is generally available from your local "green"
  31.        store (or large department store). In my TurboCube, I've cut
  32.        a piece of this material slightly larger than the fan, and 
  33.        using a rubber band, attached it to the back (i.e. interior)
  34.        side of the fan. This works very well, except that you *must*
  35.        remember to take it out and wash it once a month or so. The
  36.        reason is that as the filter becomes clogged with dust, it
  37.        begins to restrict airflow, causing the entire machine to
  38.        overhead, rather than just the optical drive.

  40.        With this caveat, the above works very well, and also protects your
  41.        floppy drive.
