- I got this advice:
-
- From Vijay Tulsiani, Louis Lam, MULLIGNJ, Chad Jenison, Chad H. Mercer and
- Douglas_J._Kiang
- (the following is a composite of two of their messages) --
- The Apple Catalog still sells them, but I would order them soon because they
- may not have them very much longer since the PB100 has been discontinued.
- You can order direct at 1-800-795-1000, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (you
- can also have them send you a free catalog.)
-
- Most items are delivered the next business day at no charge.
-
- PowerBook 100 Rechargeable Battery - last 2-4 hours............$69
- PowerBook 100 Battery Charger..................................$89
-
- The item number for the battery is A1004, the charger; A1006
-
-
- From Chris Wiggins:
- In the back of the latest (Jan?) issue of MacUser, there is
- a company (I forgot the name...sorry) which calls itself "The Powerbook
- Specialists". There is a lot of black in the ad. Anyway, as of a few days
- ago they had PB100 batteries in stock. I just got one from them. I
- suggest you act fast, though.
-
-
- From Howard Bernstein:
- Check CompUSA.
-
-
- From Mun-Kew Leong:
- The computer attic Superstore in Redwood City has PB100 batteries.
- Cost around $90 (in round numbers).
-
-
- So what did I do? At some point all my leads pointed to Apple, and I'm in
- California, so I figured I wasn't going to get out of paying sales tax. So
- I crossed the street from work to Computerware, and got a battery and
- charger, each a whopping $4 (plus tax) less than list price.
-
- Swapping seems to work pretty well, and full-cycling has brought the old
- battery back to usefulness.
-
- By the way, the charger runs off the same high-priced AC adapter. Does
- Radio Shack (for example) sell a compatible adapter?
