- There's just such a device called PowerKey. It's a combination of
- hardware and cleverly designed software. It can turn your Mac and/or
- any peripherils on or off at any preset time or periodically if
- you wish. The software is one of the most System 7-savvy programs
- currently available. It can send or recieve Apple Events or run a
- QuicKey at startup or shutdown (or any time). So theoretically you
- can do almost anything unattended. The external device looks like a
- power strip and there's nothing to set (you program everything on the
- Mac through the control panel). It uses your Mac internal clock!
- (What a clever design?!)
-
- I have had the device for about a year and it has become indispensable.
- The device can be purchase from your favorite mail order house for
- about $75 (bundled with QuicKeys Lite). I can recommended it without
- reservation. BTW, I'm just an extremely satisfied customer (The device
- has also been reviewed by MacUser/Macworld recently and they highly
- recommended it also).

- P.S. If you need more flexibility to operate your Mac unattended, try
- Easy Alarm and Frontier (assuming you already have PowerKey and
- QuicKeys). I'll add Apple Script to the list when it becomes available.
