- How can I get a startup screen to display and a startup sound to
- play _together_? Perhaps I have something or other
- misconfigured?
-
- I display my startup screens by making a StartupScreen file in
- the System folder, which the system then displays automatically
- (right after the ╥Happy Mac╙). I play my startup sounds by
- putting a System 7 sound file into the Startup Items folder, and
- the system plays it after the StartupScreen has been replaced by
- the desktop. I do both these using Jon Pugh╒s Randomizer,
- version 1.2, to select a random new one each time I start up;
- Randomizer is in the System folder itself, so it runs last of all
- the extensions. So, the sequence is: Happy Mac, StartupScreen
- displays; INITs and extensions run, culminating with Randomizer;
- desktop background and folders appear, StartupSound plays.
-
- I would like my startup sound to play earlier, before the
- StartupScreen goes away and before Randomizer runs, so that the
- screen displayed and the sound played were selected during the
- same run of Randomizer.
