  32. The 6.0.x to 7.1 upgrade is for people who were not already running system  
  33. 7.  If you were already running system 7, then you should have bought the  
  34. cheaper upgrade.  If you were not running system 7, then Apple expects you  
  35. to buy the 6.0.x to 7.1 upgrade.

  37. Both packages can do clean installs.  I've done clean installs with the  
  38. cheaper upgrade package, because I *always* do clean installs (it gives me a  
  39. chance to weed out the clutter in my system folder).  Besides, in this case  
  40. I wanted to sort out my fonts (once again, hopefully for the last time!).
