  16. Pre-3.0, TEditText could only be used with TDialogView, which was essentially
  17. an objectized version of the toolbox Dialog Manager. So the short answer to
  18. your question is "because that's how the dialog manager did it." As to why
  19. the *dialog manager* used a floating TextEdit record, I suspect the 64k RAM
  20. of the original Macintosh had everything to do with it.
