- I tried booting from the "Install" disk, my IIsi crashed. It did this twice.
- The first time it expired before it could tell me who had shot it, but the
- second time it did manage to put up an empty bomb window. I looked at the disk,
- there is a system on it (also installer and script) but nothing else (no system
- folder or finder). Is such a configuration able to boot, and if so, how? In the
- end I booted from the hard disk again, but with extensions off, and then did
- the install by double-clicking the installer. Seems to have worked fine except
- for the fonts issue.
-
- A friend of mine did his upgrade the same way as I did the other day, except
- he did not restart his machine, so all extensions were running. His install
- hung very near the end, when the installer was copying apple menu items. We
- had to reboot using the Disk Tools disk, and do a *lot* of tidying up. The
- install was in a serious mess at that point. Only our knowledge of what things
- are supposed to look like got us going again.
