- This _is_ software. There is an experimental INIT on the Developer CD
- called ADBReInit that reduces the problem but doesn't quite fix it. At
- least my PB 140 still freezes up occasionally.
-
- The problem is a result of a bug in the ROM which causes memory to move
- during a call to ADBReInit. This bug is present in the PowerBooks (not the
- 100) and the Quadras, but the Quadras don't encounter it because they don't
- sleep. When the PB wakes up it calls ADBReInit and if memory moves in the
- wrong way SLAM! it freezes.
-
- There is a program called ResetADB (I got it off Sumex) that can fix this
- problem. I launch it from Hypercard, which I always have running, and it
- brings the trackball back to life. That pretty much _proves_ it is
- software.
