- The Macintosh Bible 4th edition is a good reference book for the mac.
- For ResEdit there are two guides for using ResEdit
- One is called Resedit 2.1.1 Reference Guide and contains info on what the
- resources are for.
- The other is "RedEdit Complete" by Peter Alley & Carolyn Stange
- (ISBN 0-201-55075-X) It show more on how to use Resedit at a
- beginners level then the Reference Guide does.
- One warning: both these books came out before the existance of Sys 7.1.
- As a result the information on international(intl) resource is dated as
- is the font info.
- >Second, where do fonts go in System 7.1? Do they go in the Fonts suitcase,

- In System 7.1 there not to be ANY fonts in the System FILE.(A bug in the
- Installer causes fonts to be put there in an upgrade from 7.0.x to 7.1. These
- fonts should be removed from the system file; leaving them there eventially
- will cause printing and memory problems and finally a system crash.)
- There have been reports of a bug in Sys 7.1 that will cause truetype fonts
- to go corrupt if they are outside a FONT suitcase. In any case all fonts
- (TrueType or PostScript) SHOULD go into the font folder and due to the bug
- TrueType fonts should be in font suitcases INSIDE the fonts folder (As far
- as I know the bug does not effect PostScript fonts)
- Keeping fonts inside the font suitcase gets around the limited number of files
- open problem. System 7.1 can read the fonts only from a limited number of FILES
- the rest are ignored by the system.
- This is very basic info and does not cover everything on either of these two
- subjects. Hope it helps though.
