- To all Deskwriter owners,
- I have experienced a possibly similar problem with my black and
- white Deskwriter using the version 3.1 AppleTalk driver under System 7.1
- on my PB 170 with 8 MB of RAM. If I'm printing while I have any control
- panels open, I get a warning message from the Finder, informing me that
- the CP has been closed because of insufficient memory. Matters are worse
- than that, though: I have found that sometimes the Finder is so low on
- memory that it refuses to do anything such as letting me open a file
- folder, let alone launch an application while printing. "About the
- Macintosh" always shows that I have megabytes of RAM left over in the
- "Largest free block." Apparently, the Deskwriter driver uses memory in
- the Finder's partition. Has anyone experienced similar problems? I'd love
- to hear about them as well as about possible remedies (I've contacted HP
- about this). Please e-mail me directly and post to the net.
- Sincerely yours,
