- Can someone point me to a small portable external case and power
- supply for 3.5 " mechanisms?
-
- From the magazines it looks like the La Cie cirrus case is about
- as small as you can get. I have seen the adds for Liberty Systems,
- but I don't know the details of dimension and weight. Can someone tell
- me if they are really better (i.e. smaller and lighter) than the Cirrus
- case. They are considerably more expensive, and since I want to put
- a tape mechanism in them, the only difference for me would be portability.
-
- Even better, could I buy somewhere
- a special small and light power supply and small case to make
- my own portable hardrive 3.5" whatever (tape unit, harddisk, etc.)?
-
- I would like the power supply to be universal.
-
- A final question: If I did buy a portable tape unit, say a La Cie Cirrus,
- is it possible to take out the mechanism and put in my internal floppy
- drive mechanism on those occasions when I want a portable floppy drive?
- I realize that I need different cables. My question is whether a
- power supply for a single 3.5 tape drive could be used without danger
- for a 3.5 floppy drive. Would I have to buy some sort of "auto-sensing"
- supply? I hope that I am not talking nonsense. Please tell me if I am.

- Thank you,
