- Yup. I mailed the author (I think--mailing from news is always a bit
- screwy) and didn't get a response--probably on winter break.
-
- Someone must have submitted Classic II numbers for the Classic under
- System 7 numbers. Besides, there's no way a Classic would be faster
- under System 7 than System 6, let alone as fast as a Classic II!!!
- And, since the baseline (I think) for Speedometer is a Plus at 1.0
- (or is it an SE or a Classic?), a Classic should be very close to 1.0.
-
- Also, the Classic II is NOT half as fast as the SE/30 in the table, as
- some people like to claim. (Although, obviously Speedometer isn't going
- to perfectly reflect everyone's potential workload--and the missing
- PDS in the Classic II is still tragic.) Assuming, that is, that the
- numbers are relative to 1.0 for a Plus or whatever, and aren't logarithmic
- or anything weird like that.
-
- I wonder--were the Classic II numbers for machines with an FPU
- installed? The FP/Math/whatever test for the Classic II seemed not
- horrendously different than that for the SE/30 (which has an FPU).
