- I have a IIci with an Apple Portrait Display that I've used for about 3 years.
- I need more screen space for projects I'm working on. (I write reference
- books on tax law; mostly I use HyperCard with huge cards that fill the
- screen with all kinds of text fields for annotations of various kinds.
- The books are published by a major law publisher, so I don't need DTP
- functionality.)
-
- I need a two-page (21-inch) monitor. Black-and-white is fine; I don't
- use colour or gray scales. I have received quotes on the RasterOps 2110
- (Hitachi Grayscale monitor) with either a 1-bit or an 8-bit RasterOps card
- (the 8-bit is about $100 more), and the SuperMac Platinum 21" Mono Display
- with a SuperMac 1-bit mono card.
-
- One of the sales reps tells me that SuperMac is a bit better at controlling
- distortion near the edge of the screen. Unfortunately, I can't actually
- look at either of these monitors because neither store keeps them in stock.
-
- Quality of the display is important to me, since I work with a lot of small
- text on the screen at once and will need to use the edges of the screen.
- Performance (on my IIci with a LogiCache card) is also important; pretty much
- all I use is HyperCard and Word 4.0, and I'm running System 6.0.5.
-
- Does anyone have any experience with either the RasterOps or the SuperMac
- two-page displays? Also, if I add the two-page display and continue to use
- my portrait display as well, will I likely have performance problems?
- Since I've never worked in anything but black&white, and don't intend to,
- should the 1-bit card be sufficient for my needs?
- All comments appreciated. Thanks in advance.
