  14. One of the advantages of managing a training facility is that one has
  15. access to globs of equipment after hours, including a Quadra and three
  16. 19" RasterOps monitors. As dramatic as the performance difference is
  17. between a IIci and a Quadra when running normal Leyte Gulf, it's much
  18. wider when running in Panorama mode.

  20. Hooking up those three big screens and the Quadra turned the training
  21. room into a simulator facility better than the original Hellcat pilots
  22. ever had. Experienced flyers nearly wet their pants. A barrel roll
  23. became a spectacular show for bystanders.

  25. Also: in Panorama, the instant replay, chase, and enemy views also use
  26. all three monitors. Very choice; if you have the means I highly
  27. recommend it.

  29. Important notes, for those of you planning to try this at home (maybe by
  30. borrowing friends' monitors):

  32. 1) You can do this trick with only two monitors, as long as they're the
  33. same resolution.

  35. 2) The screens need to be *exactly* horizontally aligned. If Panorama
  36. mode is greyed out, go back to the Monitors control panel and try again.
