- Your problem may be solely with Mac's Place (call them FIRST to bitch) if 1.1
- is actually out (my understanding is that it is not, but I could easily be
- wrong) since it is really their responsibility to do like every other good
- mail-order house and only ship current versions.
-
- I almost stopped at this point... but I have to add a caveat. MacIntercom might
- be the greatest thing since sliced bread. It is also a Frank Price product
- (author of the Hermes BBS, objectively one of the most established and best Mac
- BBSes) and while I DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE I believe that Mercury is really just
- his way of looking like a real business. Frank Price is not ever going to win
- an award for his upgrade policies on Hermes. He has alienated a remarkable
- number of registered paid Hermes sysops who really like the program, but
- despise Mr. Price. He is unquestionably a skilled Mac communications
- programmer, as Hermes and MacIntercomm demonstrate. If Mercury really has a
- staff and structure beyond him, perhaps you can hope for improved service. If
- it is really just a phone line, P.O. Box, and legal name, you may want to
- consider how much support you need, and talk to a few Hermes sysop about what
- you can expect. You may want to look instead at MicroPhone or SmartComm, and
- making use of Mac's Place's return policies.
