  14. I have installed a Centram Tops for the PC card in two of our '386 boxes.  
  15. This software shows version 1.02, ca 1985. DOS 5.x is on each box.  I have the 
  16. registration cards.

  18. Each system appears to load the driver. When entering the topsmenu, the show 
  19. servers command does not find any servers.  A handy oscilloscope shows that 
  20. there are bursts of activity when the show servers command is activated.  
  21. Depending on how I interpret the data, I think that it is sending at 118KHz.  
  22. I have not traced the DMA or Interrupt on the receivers, but both machines 
  23. transmit.

  25. I did instruct tops to "show the server."

  27. After exiting, I often obtain a Extended error 1 when trying to "type 
  28. <filename>".  However, more <filename works.  When the topskrnl.dat file 
  29. incorrectly specifies that a drive is unused, it disappears after the topsmenu 
  30. session.

  32. I am aware that this software is not compatible with version 2.0.  
  33. Accordingly, I have completely disconnected the Macs from the PC's (now you 
  34. comp.sys.mac.comm readers know why I'm here)  However, these are serial 
  35. numbers pc100006313 and 6315, and I believe they should talk to each other.

  37. 1)  Is there a tech support or upgrade contact for tops/centram? The phone 
  38. number given for centram systems is apparantly to a residence.

  40. 2)  Does anyone use this vintage card with a 33 MHz machine?

  42. 3)  Does anyone out there have a Mac running System Version 7 connected to 
  43. PCs?  What do you use?
