- I believe the latest version of VersaTerm has multiple window support.
- One of the strong points of VT that may already have been mentioned is that
- it uses the Communications Tool Box. This may be particularly useful to
- powerbook owners who can use VT as their terminal emulator over a variety
- of connection methods simply by changing tools.
-
- However, I found the user interface confusing. I recommended it to a
- novice, and he had a heck of a time getting it to work for him. When I had
- him bring it in, I could see why. It appeared to me that multiple windows
- and CTB support had been added without enough thought to revision of the
- original single window non-CTB implementation user interface. The net
- result is a confusing user interface.
-
- Subsequently I got to try out Microphone 1.7. It is bundled with a lot of
- modems. Not as powerful and doesn't have CTB support, but it is pretty easy
- to do simple scripting, using the 'watch me' method. Maybe it's just me,
- but I had a hard time figuring out how to get VT to do what this novice
- wanted, namely to dial a number and then execute a simple script (i.e., to
- connect to and log on a particular host). This turned out to be a snap with
- Microphone. Microphone would definitely have been a better choice for this
- particular person.
