- I realize this has been hashed over, and that, yes in theory, one can
- use TCP services from a remote Mac via ARA connected to a host MAC on
- the network; however, I haven't been able to get it to work.
-
- As per the basic requirements, I have a remote Mac running ARA and
- MacTCP, connected to the host Mac (via ARA) which is also running
- MacTCP and is connected to a site-wide Ethernet network. We run both
- Ethertalk and TCP over the Ethernet, and the host Mac can utilize both
- sets of services just fine. When I bring up MacTCP on the remote Mac,
- and select the Localtalk icon (that's the only one available, since it
- doesn't have an Ethernet connection) I get a popup list of all the
- available Mac zones on our network. I select the zone to which the
- host Mac (server) is connected. The problem is that whenever I
- attempt to Telnet, etc. I never get a connection. Any clues? We do
- have a Gatorbox on our network. Should I (on the remote Mac) select
- within MacTCP the Localtalk zone that the Gatorbox is on (which is
- different than that which my host server is on)? Anything else
- obviously wrong. I'd really like this to work, but have been
- unsuccessful so far.
-
- Thanks, in advance,
