- Are you also volunteering to write an efficient news reader for all
- machines, and train all the users in efficient news reading practices?
-
- As it stands, just opening up the c.s.m.most newsgroups takes a significant
- time, even over LocalTalk (and it was VERY painful over 9600 baud!). Of
- course, adding more groups makes the startup even slower (but then the
- newsreaders really shouldnt be downloading the whole group list every time
- anyway).
-
- Personally, I don't care one way or the other. I suggested a mactcp group
- a couple months back, but there was no overwelming positive response so I
- dropped it. I'm going to read comm whether or not their is a mactcp group,
- but I figure there is a lot of people out their who dont have MacTCP and
- dont want to hear anything about it, its more for them that I think it'd be
- a good idea, anyone reading the MacTCP group would have to also read the
- comm group anyway...
- Peter.
