- I am helping a new Macintosh user sort out much of the new user stuff.
- She is progressing quite quickly for having only used the Mac for a
- number of months. Due to a scar from a previous computer-user life (DOS),
- she has preconceived desires to use WordPerfect. She has been
- toying around with several word processors and she thinks she is ready
- to purchase one (WP). After going to several bookstores we have discovered
- the number of available supplemental books for WordPerfect for Mac are
- few and far-between - e.g. a trip to a well-stocked bookstore (near a
- University full of Macintoshes) revealed a ratio of WordPerfect for
- Windows books to WP for Mac books of 65:1. (!!!) No shit; I couldn't
- believe it either. So... is this a dead product? << WordPerfect employees
- are disqualified and may not answer>> The inside back cover of MacWorld
- shows WP for Mac to consistently place in the top 15 business packages.
-
- Not that it matters... but this recent Mac convert is my Mom.
- "The Power to be [her] Maternal Best." ???

- The SF Board of Education just can't bring itself to use a horrid word
- like "intercourse". ...[from their] instructions to students,
- "the effectiveness of condoms is enhanced by use of a new
- condom with each episode of 'penile insertive behavior'."
-
- A Chron reader, writes in,
- "You can tell a man wrote that. I much prefer 'penile receptive
- behavior' - it sounds much more user-friendly."
