- I purchased two collections, both from MacWarehouse, I believe....
-
- One is KeyFonts for the Macintosh by SoftKey (Version 3.0)...
- I think it's about $49...comes with a good selection fo different fonts,
- 100 different styles (yes, "styles" in their sense, like many other
- companies trying to hype their collections means a font is one style, the
- same font BOLDED is ANOTHER style and the same font ITALICIZED is ANOTHER
- style... 40 differnt families of Fonts, actually...) Anyways, for what
- they offer for the price, I was quite impressed...they've basically used
- familiar "styles" and given them new names...liek Adobe's Cooper Black is
- called Cookie in their collection...not bad, since you get 9 disks with
- BOTH TrueType styles AND PostScript styles of all the fonts...this should
- put Adobe's high-priced fonts under! ;-) I still like Adobe, they're just
- too expensive...in my book, SoftKey gets 5 stars for this one...
-
- The other one is FontBank Type Companion, by FontBank...I think this one
- goes for about $95...
- They give you 11 disks with just the PostScript definitions on it...you'd
- have to use FontMonger or something like it to convert to TrueType if using
- a non-PostScript printer...They give you 250 fonts...oops, sorry..."styles"...
- ;-) However, most of the fonts have 3 or less styles, so you are getting a
- good number of fonts (about 120 or so)...Some of the fonts are just so
- crazy you may never use them...however, some are quite good...warning: some
- fonts they offer only have Upper Case letters defined....so, you'll have to
- use, again, something like FontMonger to define lowercase letters...
- All in all...4 stars...the majority of the fonts you'll find are spinoffs
- on other fonts, but you end up finding 5 spinoffs on 1 font...hence the
- large number of fonts...
-
- I found imitations of some of the big name Adobe ones, but not as many as I did
- with SoftKey's product...I'd probably recommed KeyFonts because of the
- price as well as diversity...
-
- That's my 2 cents...
