- Good angle! It will probably work out well for your Father!
-
- There aren't a whole lot of genealogy programs for the Macintosh. I use
- a nice one called "Reunion." It costs about $115 from MacConnection,
- plus $3 shipping. It is Hypercard based and comes with a charting
- utility. I've only had it for about a month. I successfully imported
- my Father-in-Law's database from a Gedcom file he created on his
- pc-compatible. Gedcom is a file exchange standard for genealogical
- data. The file had records on about 1000 people. It took a long time
- to import (the manual said to plan on doing something else while it
- was processing the file). I have also perused the data in the file,
- searched for names and relationships, and created reports and charts.
-
- If you call the publisher, Leister Productions, at 717-697-1378, they
- will send you a brochure and sample printouts. The printouts will
- impress your Mother because they really make use of the laserwriter
- (you can scale the output to the page, and it puts nice boxes around
- the names).
