- As a Mac programmer I lament the absence of a simple text editor, or
- perhaps it should be called a TEXT editor in this case. It doesn't
- have to be vi or Emacs; in fact I like the general Mac-style editor
- interface. TeachText is almost good enough, except for two problems:
-
- o It doesn't use Monaco or some other fixed-width font.
- o It has no Find/Replace dialog.
-
- What I do in practice is use Tex's or Think C's editor. Unfortunately
- both of these editors come with some amount of extra baggage to handle
- text and code compilation, respectively, and they make files with their
- own funny icons. Also, I was thinking of trying to hack TeachText to
- use Monaco, but its use of Geneva seems to be hard-wired.
-
- Does anyone know of a simple, convenient, free, conforming editor for
- the Mac?
