- In what sense is it "not accepting" 8-bit characters? A few things to check
- are both the terminal settings (which you mention) and the connection settins,
- which you do not. Of course every system is different, but if you don't have an
- 8-bit connection specified, no amount of other fiddling will give you 8 bits.
- If what you need is a usually-7-bits connection with the occasional switch into
- 8 bits, that is quite easy, since the little parity/bits/stopbits indicator at
- the bottom of the screen is really a pop-up menu, and you can use it to make
- the switch as needed.
