- You're right, the GUS can do more than just playing back digital
- samples. All of the patch files contain at least one sample, and
- as Yuri Lee said, they are 16-bit samples. You can hear the
- sample in the patch file if you do a PLAYFILE -16 -o335. The
- sample begins at an odd offset and consists of unsigned binary
- data. Some patches do have multiple samples taken over the range
- of the instrument; for example, the acpiano1.pat file has at
- least 6 samples.
