  13.     I will be upgrading from an IBM PS/2 Microchannel to an ISA based 486.
  14. I have a Microchannel MPU-IMC (the MPU-401 Microchannel board from Roland)
  15. connected to an MT-32 Sound Module.

  17. I desire SoundBlaster compabilities for use with games.  Do games which
  18. support Roland + SoundBlaster use the Soundblaster's MIDI port and protocols,
  19. or do they use the MPU-401 MIDI protocols?  Assuming the latter, is there
  20. a sound board with SoundBlaster compatibility AND a MPU-401 MIDI port?

  22. MPU-401 compat is a must in any case.  Other MIDI protocols are not
  23. acceptable.

  25. All "serious" composition works will be using the Roland, so recording
  26. abilities are not a priority.  The only use for SoundBlaster is for games.
  27. Is there a cheaper alternative instead of buying a SoundBlaster and an
  28. ISA MPU-401?
