- I am considering changing my soundcard to a GUS. Right now I have
- a soundblaster 1.5, and I am concerned that I don't have to give up anything
- in making the switch.
-
- I can't have both cards in my computer, since every slot is now filled.
-
- There are only three important things I want to do with my soundcard,
- and they would all be under windows.
-
- With my present soundblaster 1.5, I can:
-
- play *.rol files in the background (using a fm31.drv in place of the
- standard windows sound.drv and other shareware) Yes, I did
- send in the registration.
-
- play *.wav or *.mid files using the utilities provided with
- Windows 3.1 and Creative Labs
-
- use Midisoft Studio for windows to compose and play *.mid files
- myself
-
- My question is: Will I still be able to do all three of the above in windows
- 3.1 with just the GUS card without having to resort to changing the drivers
- set-up and rebooting windows >>each<< time I want to change what I'm doing in
- windows with my soundcard?
-
- (P.S. Except for playing *.rol files as background music, I don't play games
- that use a soundcard.)
-
- Thank you.
