  16. I'm experiencing an strange problem with my soundblaster card.
  17. It is version 2.5 (has CD-ROM interface). As soon as I insert 
  18. the card, I cannot use my parallel port to its full extent.
  19. This happens wit every possible configuration of the soundblaster
  20. (DMA 1/3, INT 5/7, BASE 220/240).

  22. The problem is as follows:

  24. When the printer is selected by setting bit 3 of the command port
  25. of the parallel-card high (for example by writing EC to it), I can
  26. read the correct external value of the ACK-line from the status port.
  27. As soon as I set bit 3 to low (writing E4 to the command port),
  28. I cannot read the external value of the ACK-line anymore. The 
  29. soundblaster seems to force a 0 onto the ISA-BUS for a read 
  30. from the parallel card's status port. This does not only result
  31. in invalid reads but could damage either card as well.

  33. Has onyone an idea why the soundblaster does this?
