- HI,
-
- I'm experiencing an strange problem with my soundblaster card.
- It is version 2.5 (has CD-ROM interface). As soon as I insert
- the card, I cannot use my parallel port to its full extent.
- This happens wit every possible configuration of the soundblaster
- (DMA 1/3, INT 5/7, BASE 220/240).
-
- The problem is as follows:
-
- When the printer is selected by setting bit 3 of the command port
- of the parallel-card high (for example by writing EC to it), I can
- read the correct external value of the ACK-line from the status port.
- As soon as I set bit 3 to low (writing E4 to the command port),
- I cannot read the external value of the ACK-line anymore. The
- soundblaster seems to force a 0 onto the ISA-BUS for a read
- from the parallel card's status port. This does not only result
- in invalid reads but could damage either card as well.
-
- Has onyone an idea why the soundblaster does this?
-
- Best regards,
-
- Michael Hermann
