-
- Not exactly true, the following boards ARE supported in a RT running AIX:
-
- - AT Hard disk and floppy cotroller (original 40 MB one).
- The R-40 Hard disk is the identical drive in the original AT 40 MB.
- - PC Monochrome adapter and display (IBM 5151).
- - PC EGA adapter and display (IBM 5154).
- - AT Serial-Parallel adapter
- - PC Network adapter, original IBM PC LAN card broadband RF.
- - Ethernet adapter, Ungerman Bass made the ethernet boards for the
- RT, and these same cards do run in AT style machines.
- - AT 512KB Memory expansion card - but only in support for the
- AIX AT CO-processor card.
- - A few third party AT boards were supported by several vendors
- for a while. :-(

-
- True. Only those boards originaly designed for AT or PC style machines
- were interchangable immediately. Others MAY work, depending on the
- design of the cards, and memory and I/O address conflicts. They of course
- will need drivers and support code to be written.

-
- Yep. We originally used Sytos to exchange tapes between the RT and
- our PC's.
