- The sound drivers supplied by ATI for windows 3.1 have a conflict
- problem with gaming software, when the latter is ran from windows.
-
- I installed all the games (DOS versions) under windows and all those
- that generate sound for a soundboard can not run. I get the message
- "The sound driver is in use by another application..." When I use
- "setup" to modify the drivers to "Creative Labs drivers" as supplied
- by Microsoft, the programs with sounds work O.K. But then I am unable
- to get sounds from the .WAV files supplied by ATI; I only get sounds
- from the standard .WAV files supplied with Windows.
-
- The ATI rep said this is a known problem which is due to a faulty
- development kit supplied by Microsoft. As far as he knows NO GAMES can
- be run from Windows with sound, regardless of the soundcard. Hmmm,
- sounds strange [pun intended :-)].... it did work with the OTHER
- drivers!
-
- So does anyone know how to get everything working: all the .WAV files.
- all the games from windows, etc ???
